You can be a maker too!

Anyone can be a maker

We became makers by ... wait for it ... making things!  Often those things didn't work, or broke, or only partly worked.  But we kept going, and tried different things, and made more things, and eventually the things you make get better.  You can make things too.

You can make your own Scribble Worlds activity book and / or expansion packs - and we're here to help!

So what will you make?

1. Extra Pages

2. Expansion Packs

2. Expansion Packs

This is the easiest place to start - you can quickly print up a few extra pages for your existing Scribble Worlds book, and start your next adventure!

Once you've made some extra pages, you may want to start creating your own fun expansion packs with tabbed spinner instructions and more.

3. Activity Books

If you want to make your own Scribble Worlds activity book from scratch - we have instructions for you ranging from simple to complex.  You can do it!

Make it!

1. Extra Pages

Step 1: print out the pages

Grab our extra pages template, and print out as many as you would like.  These print on A4 / Letter paper which is what most people have - next you'll cut them to fit.  For these simple blank pages, single sided printing is just fine, but if you like you can print the second page on the back.

Step 2: punch holes in the pages

If you want these to fit into an existing Scribble Worlds activity book, you need to punch 26 holes to match the B5 bindings we use.  You can purchase a hole punch from us to do this, or do it yourself with items you find in your house.

Step 3: cut out your pages

You will notice dotted gray lines on your pages - cut along these lines, and you'll now have new blank square graph paper pages ready to insert into your Scribble Worlds book, as well as blank rectangular spinner instruction pages .  You will now need to cut the circles out so the instruction pages fit over the spinner wheel.  The trick to this is to fold the paper over gently, like you're cutting out a heart.  You'll figure it out!

Step 4: invent and create!

Now that you have blank pages - you can either play the original Scribble Worlds games again, or let your siblings or parents play it.  You can also start inventing your own worlds - what neat ideas can you come up with?

2. Expansion Packs

Step 1: create draft content

If you haven't already, print out a bunch of extra pages as detailed above.  Now use these to mock up your expansion pack - what do you want people to draw, what are the rules, and so on.  Get a hand drawn version of you expansion pack ready to go - make sure it is fun to play!  Think about the items you will collect, what you want on the back of each map page, and other fun details.

Step 2: create final content

Make a copy of our Google Slides template here, and start filling in your own contents.  Remember this is designed to print out two-sided, so that even pages are on the left, and odd pages are on the right of the binder.  Make it as simple or as fancy as you like!

Step 3: print & cut your pages

This is just like the "Extra Pages" steps above, except this time you are printing out your own exciting expansion pack!  So fun :D.  This time you probably want to print your pages double-sided so it looks extra professional.  Then cut and insert as before.  Voila - you made an expansion pack!

Step 4: tell us what you did!

We would love to hear about what you made - send us an email or contact us or post to twitter or facebook or whatevs - we can't wait to see it!

3. Activity Books

Step 1: make a plan & get materials

You will have to choose what kind of activity book you are making - do you want to make one exactly like we did, with laser-cut spinner page, 26-hole-punch-bindings, and cardstock paper?  Or do you want to make a simpler version with staples or something else?  Whatever you do - get your materials together.  To make a book like ours, you will need a binder and a hole punch.

Step 2: print out your book

Use our Scribble Worlds template to print your own full copy of our original adventure world game contents.  Make sure you select two sided printing  Then punch holes and cut out as per the instructions above.  Easy mode is doing this with scissors.  Hard mode uses our laser cutter file to carefully cut each page.  =

Step 3: create your own spinner

Our earliest scribble world books used thin cardboard with simple paper or plastic spinners attached.  You can make your own out of many materials, then draw or print the DnD RPG dice pattern on the cardboard.  You can also use our laser cutter files to cut your own page out of thin plywood, plastic, or other material.

Step 4: assemble & share

You have all the pieces now - just assemble them!  Don't forget to share what you've made with the world - we're so proud of you!

If you want the fancy laser cutter files - you'll have to contact us and let us know.  Currently these files aren't easily shared, though we're happy to - we just need one plucky maker to catalyze us into action.

But not too carefully

Seriously though - have fun - but don't rip us off!  We're openly sharing all this information about how to make your own because we love making things, and want you to have fun making things too!  But we don't want you to use this to compete with us - we're also trying to make some money - this is our version of a lemonade stand!  Levi needs to be a billionaire or something.  Isa needs some Lambos.  Gabe needs, we don't even know, something ridiculous.
